Designed specifically for converting manual tricycles to electric power, elderly leisure tricycles, and light-duty cargo tricycles. The Rear Wheel Spoke Hub Motor supports the reuse of existing wheel rims, helping keep conversion costs low while making future maintenance simple and affordable. It is an excellent cost-effective drive motor for electric tricycles.
The motor features a bare flange design without an integrated wheel, supporting standard spoke steel rims from 16 to 26 inches. Existing wheel rims from older vehicles can be reused directly, eliminating the need to replace the entire wheel assembly.
Tires and spokes can also be replaced separately, resulting in much lower maintenance costs than integrated wheel motors. It is compatible with most household and converted electric vehicles.
The rear wheel spoke hub motor eliminates traditional gear reduction and chain-drive systems and uses a permanent-magnet brushless direct-drive design. There are no gears to wear out, no chains to loosen or break, no need for regular gear oil changes, and no chain tension adjustments.
The motor provides stable operation and a very low failure rate, reducing the need for frequent maintenance and making long-term use easier and more convenient.
The motor features high-flux NdFeB magnets and optimized stator windings to provide strong starting torque and smooth, linear power delivery. Acceleration is smooth under no-load conditions, while the motor maintains strong performance when carrying passengers or cargo.
It can handle rural hills, dirt roads, and uneven surfaces with ease, without excessive wheel spin, loss of power, or excessive heat that could cause demagnetization. It is suitable for both daily transportation and light-duty cargo applications.
The motor housing is made of thick die-cast aluminum alloy and features multiple sealing rings and a waterproof cable-entry design, achieving an IP54 protection rating. It can be used in normal rainy conditions, on wet roads, and on muddy surfaces.
The sealed design helps prevent mud, dust, and water from entering the motor, reducing the risk of winding corrosion, short circuits, and Hall sensor damage while extending the motor's service life.
The motor is specially optimized for low-speed, load-carrying applications, with an efficiency of more than 85%. Compared with conventional geared motors, it provides higher energy conversion efficiency, generates less heat, and consumes less power.
With the same battery capacity, it can provide longer range, making it more economical for daily transportation, local deliveries, and short-distance commercial use.
With no gear friction or chain noise, the motor uses pure electromagnetic drive and operates at ≤55 dB. It provides smooth and quiet operation, making it well suited for elderly mobility vehicles and leisure tricycles. It delivers a more comfortable and stable riding experience.
Voltage options include 48V and 60V, with 72V available for customization. Power options include 500W / 800W / 1000W / 1200W / 1500W.
A drum brake version is standard, while a disc brake configuration can be customized.
Axle length, mounting width, cable length, and Hall sensor cable specifications can also be customized to meet conversion, complete-vehicle integration, and bulk OEM requirements.
The motor features a standard rear-fork axle design and universal mounting holes, eliminating the need to modify the vehicle frame. Simply assemble and true the motor with the existing spoke wheel rim, then connect it to a standard brushless controller.
It is easy to install both individual DIY conversions and repair shops.

1. Always disconnect the main battery power supply before installation to prevent short circuits that could damage the Hall sensors and controller.
2. After assembling the spoke wheel rim, make sure the rim is properly trued and that the spoke tension is even to prevent vibration during operation.
3. Connect the phase wires and Hall sensor wires according to the corresponding colors. Do not connect them incorrectly, as this may cause the motor not to run, run in reverse, or vibrate.
4. After installation, perform a no-load test. Make sure there is no binding, abnormal noise, or excessive heating before using the vehicle on the road.
5. The motor's sealing structure is designed for splash and dust protection only. Do not immerse the motor in deep water for extended periods.
A: A spoke motor features a bare flange design without an integrated wheel rim, allowing it to be paired with spoke steel rims of different sizes and making it possible to reuse existing wheels.
It offers lower maintenance costs because the tire and spokes can be replaced separately, making it particularly suitable for converting traditional manual tricycles. With an integrated wheel motor, the wheel rim is built into the motor and cannot be separated.
If the wheel is damaged, the entire assembly may need to be replaced, resulting in higher costs and less flexibility.
A: It is not recommended. Using a 48V motor with an overvoltage 60V battery may increase speed but can cause overheating and demagnetization and significantly reduce the motor's service life.
Using a 60V motor with a 48V battery may result in insufficient power, lower speed, and poor hill-climbing performance. The battery, controller, and motor should always be matched to the same voltage rating.
A: The brushless direct-drive motor is virtually maintenance-free. There is no need to change oil or adjust a chain. Daily maintenance only requires simple checks of the axle nuts and wiring to ensure they are secure and undamaged.
A: For single-rider transportation on flat roads, 500W–800W is recommended. For two riders or light cargo, 800W–1000W is suitable. For frequent cargo transport or areas with many hills, 1200W–1500W is recommended. The 60V version provides stronger power performance.
A: The motor is designed to withstand rain and water splashes from wet roads, so normal rainy-day riding is not a problem. However, prolonged immersion in deep water is prohibited. Deep-water immersion may cause the seals to fail and allow water to enter the motor, resulting in damage that is not covered by the warranty.
A: In most cases, this is caused by wiring issues or a Hall sensor problem. First, check whether the Hall sensor connector is properly connected, whether the phase wires are connected correctly, and whether the controller is compatible with the motor. The motor itself has a very low failure rate.
A: Yes. We support customization of voltage, power, axle length, cable length, and disc or drum brake configurations. We also support OEM branding and complete-vehicle integration and can provide quotations for bulk orders.
