What is a Brushless Geared Motor?

A brushless geared hub motor consists of a high-speed brushless motor unit combined with an internal planetary gear reduction mechanism; the high-speed, compact motor drives the hub after the gearing reduces speed and amplifies torque.

With its components integrated inside the hub housing, it is classified as an internal-reduction hub motor and is widely used in standard-compliant electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, and electric tricycles.

Working Principle

The high-speed motor spins rapidly → the sun gear drives the planet gears to orbit and rotate → the ring gear remains stationary while the planet carrier outputs power at low speed → driving the hub and wheel rotation.

A simple analogy: It is like an electric vehicle with a built-in transmission, allowing a small motor to deliver high torque.

Motor speed of 3,000 rpm → gear reduction → actual wheel speed of only 250–700 rpm, matching normal driving speeds.
